Hedy Habra has published essays in refereed journals on the work of a variety of Spanish and Latin American poets, novelists and playwrights. Her main area of interest is the narrative of the Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa, to whom she has dedicated a number of studies. Her doctoral dissertation explores the conjunction of the visual with the concept of embedded fictional worlds in the work of the Peruvian novelist.
Habra writes poetry in French, English and Spanish. While Arabic and French are her first languages, her poetry was primarily written in English since she moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1981.
